Sooo remember that one time when I was going to go out to the field this morning? Yeah. PSYCH. Apparently there are a ton of roads blocked because there´s a bunch of rioting and stuff going on in the streets, so those going to my mission and a couple other missions are stuck here in the CCM for another day. We should be leaving tomorrow though! And on the bright side, I get to email all of you lovely people!
So update on this past week! We had our big breakfast for the Guatemalan dignitaries, which was so fun. Everything was so fancy and gorgeous. Our songs went pretty well...well, to be honest we sounded terrible. Hahaha sometimes half of your choir is tone deaf. But they´re all so sweet and nice and they tried so hard, so it was still a fun experience.
This week has flown by! We´ve spent it getting a bunch of orientations and classes about traveling, where to go, what to do, how to not die, etc. Hahaha so that´s been fun.
Saturday, we got the opportunity to teach a REAL PERSON! So that was cool. It was such a spiritual experience. He was less active friend of one of the teachers named Franklin. He was super nice, and we talked to him about why he didn´t go to church anymore. He said he had some doubts about doctrine, and we found out he´d never read and prayed about the Book of Mormon before! So we had him read Moroni 10:4-5, and he had to pause a few lines in because he was getting emotional. During that pause, you could literally FEEL the Spirit fill the room. He then committed to read and pray about the Book of Mormon, and if he felt it was true, he said he would return to church. So that was AMAZING.
That was probably the highlight of the whole week. My companion already left to his mission, so a few of us are kind of going it solo today. There was also a small earthquake yesterday, so that was cool!
Well, that´s it for this week! Hopefully I´ll have a bunch of awesome stories and experiences to share next week about my first week in the field. I love you all!!! The Church is true!
